Fr. Mario Rapose
In Residence, Mary Our Queen Church

frmario@moqchurch.org

Fr. Mario Dominic Rapose was born in Bombay, India in 1968, the son of late Sebestina and Marcus Rapose. Fr. Mario has one brother, Denzil; who is married to Catherine. They have two children, Deon and Rachel.

As Fr. Mario approached adulthood, he felt that God might be calling him to contemplate the possibility of Priesthood.  At the age of 20, He listened to God’s calling and joined a newly found Religious Order called the Patrist.  This order was dedicated to God the Father.   In responding to his call from God, Fr. Mario moved from India to Singapore from 1989 to 1992, where he studied philosophy.  In February of 1992, Archbishop Daniel Sheehan invited newly found Religious Order to Omaha, NE.  In 1993, God’s calling led Fr. Mario to join the Archdiocese of Omaha.  Fr. Mario obtained his Undergraduate Degree in Philosophy, and his Master in Divinity and Dogma from the Pontifical College Josephinum.

Fr. Mario was ordained to priesthood on June 3rd 2000 at St. Cecelia's Cathedral in Omaha Nebraska.  His first assignment was St. Robert Bellarmine Parish where He spent four years. His next assignment was to St. Patrick’s Parish in Fremont. In 2006, he became pastor of St. Francis Borgia in Blair. In addition, in 2010, he was appointed pastor to St. John the Baptist in Fort Calhoun.  Before coming to Mary Our Queen Parish, Fr. Mario was a Pastor at St. Philip Neri-Blessed Sacrament Parish for four years.  He is hoping to get to know you, serve you, and love you as my family.

Fr. Mario says though it’s only been twenty-one years since ordination, priesthood has been an amazing journey- filled with lots of challenges but much joy.  He enjoys celebrating Mass and sacrament of Reconciliation with the people.  Above all, he enjoys helping people to encounter Jesus and serving the people of God any way he can.  Every day he thanks God for calling him to be his priest. When he is not ministering to people or sleeping, he enjoys playing golf, soccer, and most sports.  He enjoys being with people socially and spiritually.
