Accreditation

Mary Our Queen advances excellence in education through the process of accreditation. Accreditation promotes continual school improvement leading to greater student achievement. Mary Our Queen follows the standards, assessments and curriculum guidelines published by the Archdiocese of Omaha that also meet the requirements of the Nebraska Department of Education. Mary Our Queen School is fully accredited by the State of Nebraska as a Rule 10 School.

Additionally, MOQ School received an AdvancED accreditation in 2015 and Congnia accreditation (formerly AdvancED) in 2020. Mary Our Queen students are consistently recognized for outstanding achievement in all academic areas. Test results from TerraNova 3 and STAR 360, criterion-referenced assessments, place MOQ students in the top quartile of Catholic Schools each year. Each year between 90-95% of students attend area Catholic high schools with an average of 22% (over the last five years) receiving academic scholarships

Learning Resources

Three full-time resource teachers provide support and assistance to students in grades K-8.  In addition to working directly with students, the resource teachers oversee the SAT (Student Assistance Team) process meeting with teachers weekly to discuss student concerns and academic interventions.  The resource teachers coordinate academic referrals to Westside Community Schools for testing and evaluation.  Additionally,  resource teachers coordinate student accommodation plans, ensuring continuity of support each school year.

Full-time Counselor

A full-time counselor supports the social, emotional, and academic growth of students in and out of the classroom.  The counselor visits classrooms weekly, provides individual support for students with specific needs, and is a member of the Student Assistance Team.  Additionally, the school counselor coordinates a partnership with Catholic Charities School Mental Health Program. The counselor assesses students’ learning styles and evaluates standardized test data to support personalized instruction for students.

Technology, STEAM, and Robotics

Emphasis is placed on technology usage both as skills as well as developing responsible Digital Citizenship with our students.  We have a full-time technology teacher as well as a technology lab for our students.  We strive to incorporate technology into project-based learning.  Students at MOQ use technology as a tool to enhance their learning and to help them express ideas, make inquiries, solve problems, and collaborate with others. All classrooms are equipped with SMART Board technology and we incorporate a 1:1 device option for students that includes iPads and Chromebook programs.

MOQ recognizes the importance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education and is committed to technology and its use to prepare students for tomorrow’s world. Our teachers incorporate STEAM education into lessons and special projects throughout the year beginning at the Preschool level. In addition, new STEAM technologies have been added and incorporated school-wide.

Some of our STEAM highlights include:

  • 3D Printing allows users to turn any digital file into a three-dimensional physical product or create their own Robotics.
  • Dash & Dot
  • Ozobots
  • LEGO Mindstorms EV3
  • Little Bits
  • Beebots
  • Root Robotics Coding
  • Tynker coding software
  • Coding apps integrated with robotics
  • VEX Go kits for families that provide access to a number of STEM labs connected to curriculum standards

We believe art class is important to the whole child– it is hands-on and has immediate rewards. We also feel art provides opportunities for creative outlets and enables children to grow in confidence and learn how to think positively about themselves and learning.

As part of the effort to effectively use technology in the learning environment, MOQ conducts STAR testing, a computer adaptive assessment test for 3rd to 8th graders as a digital tool to build a curriculum around individualized learning.

Robotics

Students gain indispensable skills for any career as they work together to solve real-world problems, share ideas, work through failures, and collaborate with others. Our students learn about the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on learning.

Beyond engineering and design skills, our students will also develop skills in leadership, business, public speaking, coaching, and communication. We are looking to provide these students with the necessary skills to become the next leaders in our community and beyond.  MOQ has consistently been a nationally ranked Robotics team.

From Our Families

MOQ has been a community for my family for 8 years now. The sense of community is something you don’t find anywhere else.
